After many months of redesigning the watch, the revamped dive watch was offered
to the SEAL teams in early 1994. It became a success instantly. With the
enhanced credibility of having been requested by and supplied to the U.S. Navy
SEALS, consumers correctly reasoned that if it was good enough for one of the
world’s most elite military forces, it surely was good enough for their
recreational uses.
From there, Luminox expanded the collection to include a variety of dial colors,
improved and upgraded versions of the original, and ultimately an entire line of
watches of many types and styles created for the active consumer, the sportsman,
law enforcement and military groups.
More good fortune played a part in the continued development of the Luminox
brand when a fellow from Edwards Air Force Base called to express his
appreciation for the Luminox watches. He told us of how the guys flying the F-117
NighthawkTM Stealth jet were also wearing Luminox watches and loved
them. He then requested that Luminox make watches specifically for them – for
Air Force personnel. Months later the first of the Luminox aviation inspired
collections was released, which began a relationship with Lockheed Martin®, the
maker of the F-117 NighthawkTM Stealth jet. From there, Luminox began
developing an entire array of aviation inspired watches that are (and will be)
tied to specific Lockheed Martin properties.
This year’s
catalog is our biggest ever as the line continues to grow and flourish.
